The next IUCN World Conservation Congress, the world’s largest environmental decision-making forum, is approaching fast and will take place from 3 to 11 September 2021 in Marseille, France, in a “hybrid” format with the option of remote participation for some parts of the event.
MedPAN is strongly mobilised and will be present, along with its partners, on many events. A number of dates are already confirmed for MedPAN. You can also attend the sessions online by subscribing to the online pass. Find all sessions below:

PAMEx launch – The Mediterranean: a model sea by 2030 – 8 Mediterranean governments and 5 international organisations get together to launch an action plan: “The Mediterranean: a model sea by 2030” (PAMEx) that aims to reverse the dramatic loss of marine biodiversity in the Mediterranean Sea by 2030 through concrete and collective actions.
MedPAN together with The MedFund were selected to give a speech during the presentation of the Axis 1 of the Action Plan about “Increasing ambition for preserving marine and coastal biodiversity in the Mediterranean”.

Ocean Pavilion – The cooperation between networks of MPA managers in the Atlantic region – EU Ocean Governance project
An event guide and the programme of the Ocean & Islands Pavilion have been released.

Campus Session – Innovative tools & practices to ensure a healthy Mediterranean biodiversity and sustainable tourism – At the occasion of this international event, the two Interreg Med co-funded communities have jointly developed a practical workshop proposal that has been selected to be presented as a “Campus session” in a full virtual format.
The MPA Networks project will contribute to this session.

Mediterranean Pavilion – Networks of MPA managers in the Mediterranean and beyond – A new dynamics to reach MPA targets
The Mediterranean MPA Forum and the Mediterranean Consortium for Biodiversity will be presented during this session.

OFB Stand – Marine Protected Areas network
Several meetings will also be organised in cunjunction with the congress with a Steering Committee of the MPA NETWORKS project on 1st September in the afternoon, a MedPAN Board of Directors on 2 September in the afternoon and 3rd in the morning and a technical workshop of the GEF project “Build back a blue and stronger Mediterranean” on 9 September from 15h to 17h co-organised with The MedFund.
