Eco-union published the report “Managing the environmental sustainability of nautical tourism in Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas“; a research-based policy-oriented report for MPA managers and public authorities, highlighting key environmental management issues related to leisure boating in MPAs.
The report includes a case study of Cap de Creus Natural Park (Catalonia, Spain), and a benchmark of six north-Mediterranean MPAs. The study results demonstrate that further attention needs to be paid to the environmental management and governance of nautical tourism in Mediterranean MPAs. Additional policy efforts are needed to favour conservation and reach good environmental status.
This publication was produced in the framework of the MedPAN Small Project Cap Boating co-funded by the French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM) and Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
