Are you a manager of a coastal and marine protected area or a marine litter practitioner? Are you interested in filling in the ‘data gaps’ that hamper an effective implementation of essential measures to address the growing threat of marine litter in Med MPAs?

Then you may wish to join the ACT4LITTER Marine Litter Watch Month (season II) to be held from 1st to 30th April 2018.

The ACT4LITTER Marine Litter Watch Month offers managers and marine litter practicioners a unique opportunity to join forces and carry out beach litter surveys in a harmonised way in order to elaborate a snapshot assessment report on marine litter found on beaches in Mediterraenan coastal and marine protected areas.

The one-month pilot beach surveys will deploy a harmonised monitoring approach by applying  the Methodology for Monitoring Marine Litter on Beaches. Technical support for the implementation of the methodology will be provided through a webinar  to be organised by MIO-ECSDE on 28 March 2018 at 11.30 CET.

Please let Thomais Vlachogianni (, the coordinator of the ACT4LITTER Marine Litter Watch Month,  know whether you are interested in joining this activity and the webinar by 27 March 2018, by filling out and returning this application form.

The winter edition of the Marine Litter Watch Month was a real success. It gathered 20 MPA management bodies in 6 Mediterranean countries. Click on the link to discover the preliminary results.
