DG MARE is preparing a report on the functioning of the Common fisheries policy, which is set to be released by the end of the year 2022. In addition to the targeted stakeholder consultation that took place in early 2022, DG MARE has now launched a call for evidence targeting the general public. The aim of this call is to provide further information about the functioning of the Commission’s common fisheries policy and to request feedback from both the general public as well as stakeholders, until 23 September 2023. All feedback could be submitted on the Commission’s public portal.
Your participation in this consultation would be appreciated, in particular in the light of the upcoming Action plan to conserve fisheries resources and protect marine ecosystems and the Commission’s proposal for a Nature restoration law. Fisheries management is an exclusive competence of the EU and environmental management measures that affect fishing activities (such as MPAs) must consider the fishery dimension. We, therefore, think that participating in this consultation would be relevant for you.
