The DestiMED Project was officially launched on January 19,2017 in Rome.

Hosted by the Italian region of Lazio (project coordinator), the kick-off meeting was held in the presence of the 7 partners of the project: MedPAN, WWF Adria, WWF MedPO, UICN Med, Association for Protection and Preservation of Natural Environment in Albania, Federparchi and Global Footprint Network.

DestiMED is a project funded by the Interreg Med Programme (2.5M euros, nov. 2016 – Apr. 2019). The project aims at building the pre-conditions for a Mediterranean Destination Management Organisation (DMO) that will harmonise quality standards and tools to monitor compliance and to propose attractive ecotourism offers promoted through a lasting brand.

More specifically, the project will further develop and test ecotourism standards, offers and monitoring tools in 13 protected areas around the basin – forming the quality scheme of a future DMO.

The project is built on results of the MEET project (Mediterranean Ecotourism Experience) project, where different planning and marketing approached were created and tested. These results will be enriched through the use of a monitoring tool.

The project will make it possible to implement pilot actions in 13 Mediterranean Protected Areas. MedPAN will be in charge of the French pilot actions coordination.

A call for interest addressed to French partners was launched, check our website for information:
