Background: Cap de Creus Natural Park and Natura 2000 site was created in 1998 and is managed by the Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Government of Catalonia. Tourism and recreational boating are common along the Spanish Mediterranean Coast, however coastal and maritime spatial planning lack integration with local tourism policies.
Project objective: The project aims at formulating recommendations to integrate the Ecosystem-Based Approach (EBA) on recreational boating planning/management at Cap de Creus Natural Park, based on Marine Spatial Planning (MSP). The objectives are to develop a guideline for sustainable recreational boating and undertake a technical workshop with representatives of the MPA, Small Medium Enterprises and fisheries experts from Cap de Creus.
